“A very pleasant surprise”

Just called in for a pre-theatre dinner without a reservation. The meal was really good for everybody in our party with excellent pasta and a very good range of meals. The service was friendly, prompt and professional. Next time I will plan to stay longer and more fully explore the menu and wine list.

“Excellent experience”

My wife and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night in September without a reservation. We were informed that there would be no tables available for about 45 minutes, but if I left my mobile number, they would ring me when one became free. When I asked for a recommendation to pass the intervening time, they suggested the little wine bar next door; certainly glad they did, it, too was a great experience and a suitable start to the evening. Afer about 25 minutes, I got the call that a table had become available and we went back to the restaurant. The shared starter (a plate of antipasti that would have served us as a main meal in itself) was delicious. Our main courses, mine ravioli stuffed with sea bass and crab, in a prawn sauce and my wife's a breast of chicken in a mushroom sauce with vegetables, were equally good. The service and atmosphere were excellent and we had a thoroughly great time. If we visit Buxton again we would certainly eat here again, although next time we would definitely make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

“Fantastic restaurant...something for everyone”

I visited the St Morritz restaurant on 22nd September with a group of friends. It’s a superb restaurant and highly recommended. The menu is plentiful and they also have a ‘specials’ menu to go alongside. There is so much choice that it’s highly unlikely that you wouldn’t be able to find something for everyone.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is very relaxed and the staff all extremely friendly and helpful.
Everything we ordered was delivered in a timely fashion - all freshly cooked and well presented. All meals were excellent and we had a real mix of dishes amongst us…pasta, chicken and steak, all of which could not be faulted.
To finish off a few of us went for sweets and I have to say the Swiss Chocolate ice cream is up there with the best ice cream I have ever tasted.
Prices are extremely reasonable and when you factor in the quality of the food and service then it’s a real find and a real bargain.
The restaurant was extremely busy so booking would be recommended.

“Little bit of the Alps hidden in Derbyshire”

Excellent. The decor & layout of the building was very good, and certainly gives you the effect regarding "first impression" when you walk in the door.Food & menu choice is good, along with the service. It was fairly busy but we were treated as though we were the only diners. Most courses had the option of a smaller portion at reduced rate, and if selected you will not be short changed. Good value for money.

“A Pleasant Surprise”

Having never really been wowed by the outside of this place sufficiently to feel we must visit, we recently booked to eat with friends to see what the experience was like. We were not disappointed by the visit. While the highlight was beautifully cooked calves liver, the food was very good and we were all able to enjoy the very relaxed atmosphere among many more people we knew in there.
